 Saturday was a busy day. I had to make five different events in five different towns. My performance of the day was at TOLY Park during Norman Music Fest. TOLY Park is a pretty cool little spot with Food Trucks and will be hosting some cool events like screening a Star Wars movie this coming weekend. I played bass for Fancy Bump. We weren't running off a set list this time and I don't remember what all we played so I can't list the tracks. Johnny played solo for a while first and then Evan and I joined him and played most of the stuff we did on our last show before this one.

Norman Music Festival's 9th year. It has grown a lot and has made some improvements. This year we played at McNellie's again. Got to follow our friend Dave McDaniel. (who was in top form) The bar was packed. I couldn't hear myself and ended up blowing out my voice by the third or fourth song. I just yelled the rest of the set. Didn't matter, the crowd still seemed to be having fun and we definitely were. We got the entire bar shouting "Fuck!" along to 'White People'.

 My official return to the Norman Music Fest. This time it was on a stage more befitting. I had a good time. I was able to play before my friend Carol Morgan and catch some of her set. Her first time at NMF. Very cool. I sang song about drinking and druggin' and Jesus all while sober. Tried out the new guitar. A little different after playing the old one for so many years. All in all this was a good show. One I wouldn't mind doing again.

 This was my third and final performance for the Norman Music Fest. It was not that great of a night for me. The person I was upset with and drinking over showed up just before my show with the reason I was so upset. By the time I hit the stage I was so smashed I blacked out. Honestly all I remember playing are the first chord of the first song, and the last chord of the last song before going into the chorus of "He Stopped Loving Her Today". I honestly wish I would have backed down and asked Eddie to sing and just played guitar. I should have stayed away from the mic. I'm told it was all very fast and very angry. I'm also told I changed a lot of the words to things along the lines of "f**k you, you cheating whore, f**k you". Definitely not my proudest moment. What's done is done though. I can't change it now. Below is the setlist I assume we played. I haven't asked the guys if there was deviation or not.

 This was my second set for the Norman Music Festival. My first official club set, but off the radar of the official NMF. It went like shit. I was pretty well too drunk, angry and sad to care much about anything. There was no one there to run the sound. My guitar had distortion on it. Acoustic guitar with distortion. Terrible. The promoter was nowhere around. The guy they gave me to play bass seemed about as fucked up as me and was having the most terrible time following. I turned to face him more, said something about it and he walked off a few minutes later. I wasn't too fucked up to know what I was doing though. So, I know it wasn't me. I was playing the right chords. I didn't sound too great under all the circumstances though. Wished it would have been different.

 Norman Music Fest happened over the past weekend. I did one unofficial set and two official. This, the unofficial, was the first one. I honestly did not keep track of what I played. I had some news that morning that devastated me... so I just drank and played guitar. A lot. I was stationed at The Hidden Cape Foundation booth. I played random songs throughout the day and did a couple interviews and let them video me doing songs. I believe 'Road Rash' was the one video taped. Also jammed with a few other musicians. I remember doing some Cocaine Blues with Caleb McGee. There was a guitarist I didn't write down his name I traded songs with. I'm not going to put an order on my song list. Just the ones I remember for certain I played. Some of them I did more than once. Anyway, it's here. Listed for my own purpose.

 My return to the Norman Music Festival this year was a little different. I came with my band The Prairie Fire instead of playing solo. Our alcove behind Michelangelo's had a stage and nice sound system set up in it this time, which was cool. It also had lots of chairs, a beer stand and tents. Unfortunately it just didn't have the same feel as before. Also, this was the first show with the Prairie Fire's new guitarist Alan Wood. A lot of great bands played all around the festival. I got to see most of my favorites of my youth. Also had to deal with some awkward moments of seeing people I want absolutely nothing to do with. Too bad they can't get the hint. Still a good time over-all.

 Norman Music Fest was a little odd this year. Three days of music that started on a Thursday?!?! Why not Fri, Sat & Sun? Anyway, I missed out on the Thursday night. Made it to Friday, and finally found out when and where I was to be playing. The Friday started out slow, but ended in full force. Got to see a lot of old friends. Saturday they finally decided to block off the streets. Also, they had a bunch of bands in the alleys behind the shops instead of in the streets this year. Like I said, it was a little odd. Ended up being a great weekend with a lot of great acts though. Michelangelo's had me play last, so I got to play for two and a half hours. It was great...

 My first show for the evening was the grand opening of the Downtown Sound. A new practice space/art house kind of thing. Acoustic music, poetry readings, art show and the NMF Wine Tasting. It was a busy night. My friends Father Phil and Katie Khaos both played before me, then I had to leave after I played for my second show. So I unfortunately missed out on the poets. Huge crowd for such a small room. It was great. Started off I didn't know what the hell was going on with this bright light right in my face... once I got someone to move it, things changed for the better and I did a pretty fun set. Thanks to SmacOne for jamming with me and new friend Caleb for joining me as well!
