 Day two of my 2014 State Fair experience. This time I had the full band out. We played at 8pm on  a Saturday night. The lights in my face were so bright I have no idea if we had one or one hundred people there to see us. All I could see was this two big blinding lights that reminded me of police headlights. Our soundmen were cool. Had a little trouble at first with the echo because of how the stage was built. First time we brought all the amps out, but it seemed to go well and we had fun.

 The band got back together and we dusted off our instruments to play a show with TJ Mayes and Hellbilly Homicide. Two very cool acts. We had a good time, goofed off a little and jammed pretty hard. Eddie had a few too many and it was nice. Now that I've been sober I got to make fun of him for being the lush this time. The crowd was small but powerful. This is still one of our favorite clubs to play.

 Saturday Night we played at The Chameleon Room. Micah Nix, a local musician who has touched the hearts of many around here passed away. A vigil was held, a concert as well. People got up on stage to share thoughts and memories then Left To Die, ourselves and Buxshot all played a set. Micah was a former member of Social Parasite, so we dedicated a couple of the Parasite songs to him.

 My first performance of 2014 after a break for the holidays. It was a cold cold night and a lot of people wouldn't brave the weather, but those who made it out were not disappointed. We shared the stage with the Barnyard Stompers who were coming through on tour. Had a blast with them. Great band that I look forward to playing with again. Best quote ever. Casey of the Barnyard Stompers said that Prairie Fire were like "the Rancid of Country Music". Mighty fine compliment.

 Last night we held Universe City's Open Mic at The Deli. The Prairie Fire were the featured act opening the night off with a full set. This was our first time here as a band since our very first gig a few years ago. Normally this show is the first Wednesday of every month, but because of scheduling conflicts with a touring act it got pushed forward a day to the first Tuesday. Because of this Isaiah wasn't able to come play drums. We had a cat named James Paterson fill in, and he did very well. Fit right in with the rest of us.

 After getting back to Oklahoma I got with the band to play the Guthrie Arts Festival's Mumford and Sons Weekend. This thing was huge. There was traffic backed up for a couple miles from downtown up to the highway. I got to see a couple very cool acts before bailing out. Shantel Leitner played right before us and The Mulligan Brothers right after. We sound checked with "Astro Zombies" and I used my guitar amp for the first time with the acoustic, giving a nice reverb effect to it. The only downfall about this show was the heat. No one was expecting it to be that hot and we didn't have a tent for the stage. I went on at 4pm and the heat was unbearable. I thought I was going to pass out... and I've played some hot shows before, but none like this. Luckily Eddie and Alan handled a lot of the vocal duty and we ended up cutting the set short.

 This was a fairly emotional show. The tribute to Joe D. I used the line-up that had played with Joe for both Prairie Fire and Pallbearers. We didn't use any lead instruments because it didn't feel right having someone else play it when it was supposed to be about Joe. We told stories about Joe in between songs and tried to pay tribute to him as best as we could.

 This was an odd show for us. I found out literally minutes before I left for the gig that my long-time friend and lead guitarist Joe D. had passed away. I got up to the club and found out that Isaiah's car engine locked up while he was on the way and he couldn't make it. Jim wasn't available to fill in, so we improvised. Noah from The Fabulous Minx (Whom we had literally just met) filled in for the majority of the set. Jimmy from The Returners sat in on a couple. It was different, but wasn't bad. With Noah we were a touch slower than usual but on point on the most of it. With Jimmy we played faster than we've ever played before. I haven't played anything that fast since I was working with Blizzard on the drums. I dedicated the set to Joe.

 Back to Leon's Lounge with the new line-up of Prairie Fire. Sounded a thousand times better than the last time we played there. The Righs opened up and Jason and The Punknecks closed the show. Eddie even joined The Punknecks for their rendition of "Ball & Chain". Sound sucked, we couldn't hear a thing from the monitors, but we still rocked it and had a good time. A lot of old friends showed up and we had cake for Crystal's birthday. It was just a good show all around.

 After May Daze I headed up to OKC for a "Rockabilly" show that Prairie Fire was booked for. One of the bands dropped out so Brian Dunning threw something together for it and a touring act from Kansas City called St. Dallas and The Sinners played. The show wasn't packed, but everyone there was having a great time. We weren't in top form, but we put out more than enough energy.

 This was my third and final performance for the Norman Music Fest. It was not that great of a night for me. The person I was upset with and drinking over showed up just before my show with the reason I was so upset. By the time I hit the stage I was so smashed I blacked out. Honestly all I remember playing are the first chord of the first song, and the last chord of the last song before going into the chorus of "He Stopped Loving Her Today". I honestly wish I would have backed down and asked Eddie to sing and just played guitar. I should have stayed away from the mic. I'm told it was all very fast and very angry. I'm also told I changed a lot of the words to things along the lines of "f**k you, you cheating whore, f**k you". Definitely not my proudest moment. What's done is done though. I can't change it now. Below is the setlist I assume we played. I haven't asked the guys if there was deviation or not.

The Prairie Fire's return to the stage. Back as a trio with Jim on drums. Tonight we opened for The Koffin Kats. It was a total pleasure sharing the stage with these guys. They were amazing. Things went well aside from a minor disagreement with another local. The Blue Note rocked, as always. We had our favorite sound guy Jacob fixing things up right. The crowd was very enthusiastic. Tonight was the first night I also had my friend from The Hidden Cape Foundation with us. THCF is a local organization on its way up that helps out families in need. We raised some money for THCF and Cancer Bites.I'll have some more info. on THCF soon.
